Don Shuman was born on April 9, 1925 at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia.  His family came to Flemington in 1931 when his father began operating a clothing store.  Don is a product of the Flemington schools.  He became a reporter for that "other" newspaper, the Hunterdon Republican, shortly before World War II, studied for a real estate license in 1940, and sold his first property in 1940.  He became a full time real estate salesman after being discharged from the Navy (in which he enlisted in 1942) and got his broker's license in May, 1946.  Don was the director of an insurance company from 1983 to 2009 and continues as a real estate broker.  Don is known for telling wonderful stories about the old days in Flemington.
