  • HISTORY DETECTIVES: HISTORY HUNTING FOR HUNTERDONS YOUNG HISTORIANS
    Bring your children to an interactive afternoon with Educator and Preservationist Janice Armstrong as she delights young and old alike with her unique perspective on historical education. This is a hands on history lesson where Janice and friends have assembled historical Hunterdon artifacts that the children will touch, hold and in many cases, use. An amazing afternoon which will undoubtedly inspire the youth of Hunterdon to fall in love with Hunterdon's fascinating history. Limited to 25 children ages 6 to 10 years old

Janice Armstrong currently serves as the Program Director for Preservation NJ. She is a retired educator from Readington Township Schools who enjoys sharing with both children and adults her interest in historic preservation and her travels to other counties. Ms. Armstrong also works as a historic preservation consultant with Dennis Bertland Historic Preservation Consultants helping historic sites improve their educational programming, preparing National Register Nominations and compiling historic district surveys. Her preservation experience includes working as a Program Associate/Fiscal Assist for the New Jersey Historic Trust, Special Projects Coordinator as well as Board member for Preservation NJ, and Education Director of the Fleming Castle Museum, Flemington. Ms. Armstrong has taught classes as part of the Drew University Historic Preservation Program, presented historical programs at the Prallsville Mill, Stockton and is a Museum Teacher/Tour Guide for Historic Bethlehem (PA) Museums and Historic Sites. She is a member of the Board of the Hunterdon County Historical Society, The 1759 Vought House and the Milford Borough Historical Society. Ms. Armstrong lives in Milford, Hunterdon County with her partner Stephen and their cat Buddy.
