Kenneth & Marilyn Cummings both grew up in Oklahoma where they met and married.  Kenneth holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Ag Education, and a Master’s degree & PhD from Purdue University in Animal Nutrition.  Marilyn has a Bachelor’s degree [Home Ec Ed] and a Master’s degree from Purdue [Housing & Interior Design, Historic Interiors, & Textiles].  Both conducted research and taught at Purdue, Mississippi State University, and Colorado State University before moving to New Jersey.

The Cummings lived and worked in Somerset County for over twenty years before migrating to Hunterdon County in 2003.  Kenneth worked for Church & Dwight Co., Inc. as head of their animal nutrition research department.  Marilyn was involved in historic architectural design, historic interiors, antiques, and floral design work.

When they came to Hunterdon, they helped establish the Delaware Township Historical Society and have worked at that endeavor for the last ten years.  Through grants from Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission and Delaware Township, Marilyn has done extensive research on the early structures of their township.  Over the last several years, she has created a digital history-mapping project for Hunterdon County.  She also has been instrumental in the writing of a book on the hamlet of Raven Rock, just published this last year.  Kenneth has been involved with the Holcombe-Jimison Farm Museum and is on the board for the Hunterdon County Historical Society.
