Terry Wright, a senior reporter for the Hunterdon County Democrat, is a member of the board of directors and corporate secretary for the Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair, successor to the Flemington Fair.

He grew up on a small farm in Neshanic, Somerset County and came to Flemington Fair starting as a young child and later as a 4-H club member. A gardener, he exhibited flowers and vegetables.

He started covering the Flemington Fair as a cub reporter more than 40 years ago, when his duties at the Democrat included serving as farm news editor. Over the years he’s written scores of articles about the fair, Flemington Speedway and their demise.

Besides writing for the newspaper, he has served as a copy editor, assignment editor and managing editor, returning to reporting and taking photos on a full-time basis three years ago. In past years he wrote Garden State news columns for American Agriculturist and other farm magazines.
He has lived in Raritan Township for 39 years, first in Reaville and then in Croton since marrying Pat Baldwin, a Croton native. His involvement with the fair started in 2000 after the Hunterdon fair organization was created when the owners of Flemington Fair decided to cease holding it. Shortly after he became a volunteer for the new fair, his wife came on board. Office manager for RTS Packaging in Kingwood, Pat leads the volunteers who handle back-office financial operations during the fair.

Terry and Pat were given the 2010 Roger Everitt Award. The fair organizers established the award in 2004 to recognize people who have  demonstrated outstanding service to the fair. Everitt is president of the fair board.
